A generous open kitchen in Thiruvananthapuram built around a statement island — the centrepiece of a home designed for families who cook together, entertain often, and care deeply about design.
The island became the natural anchor of the entire ground floor. At 1200mm × 2400mm, it is large enough for meal prep and casual dining on the opposite side, with bar stools that tuck flush into a lower counter overhang.
Handleless high-gloss white cabinets run along two walls with push-to-open hardware, keeping the visual clutter minimal. Under-counter appliances — a wine cooler, a dishwasher, and a built-in oven tower — are positioned for maximum ergonomic efficiency without breaking the clean lines.
Waterfall Statuario marble on the island countertop extends down both ends to the floor, creating the dramatic focal point the family had seen on their travels and wanted recreated here. Three oversized globe pendants in brushed brass hang above the island, providing task and ambient light simultaneously.
